The reason I don't eat at chain restaurants
Well I should have known better than to eat Italian 'out'or to eat at a 'chain' restaurant for that matter but a gift certificate was involved. Well, Maria's Italian Kitchen was by far the worst Italian food I have ever tasted! I let several reviewers know about her slick, greasy, oily, and bland dishes. All I tasted was oil and the food gave me a headache. The breadsticks even sucked! And you should have seen the people in line. Personally I think people dont know that they're eating shit cuz they have never had the real thing. That goes for the Olive Garden too! My Sicilian grandpa was the best chef and spoiled me with his food! I miss him although he visits me in my dreams sometimes. His sauce took hours to make and actually melted in your mouth. I gotta find a picture of my grandpa........... This is me and my grandpa~ and my cousin Jeff.

Oh my god! Maria's is the WORST!
We used to go there frequently, and it was great- nice thin crust margherita pizza and custom calzones. Then they changed management about 18 months ago and since then it's been DEPLORABLE. We ordered a pizza to be delivered and it was inedible. They gave us a credit, and I'm sure it's still there because we won't eat that skanky food anymore.
We like Pomodoro on Westwood Blvd. for nice Italian ambiance and there's another one on Westwood, just south of Olympic that I've forgotten the name (ask for the bresaola salad- sometimes they have it off the menu.)
That's exactly what happens at chains. Never heard of Pomodoro but I'll check it out. Sometimes when I'm lazy I'll just go to Trader Joe's and make my own pizza, fresh, with peppers, mushrooms, etc. Turns out better than all those pizza take outs!
Yes, Mama should have her heritage revoked for serving that stuff!LOL
